This is written to be read, not to protect us. If anything here is unclear or you think it is wrong, email support@squadsportsclub.comand we will fix the wording.
The short version. Squad stores your email, your profile, the games you join and the messages you send. If you allow it, it uses your location on your phone to work out distances — that reading never leaves your phone. It does not track you, does not contain advertising, and does not sell anything to anyone.
What we collect
- Your email address. Used only to sign you in — we send a six-digit code to it. There is no password.
- Your profile. Your name, and optionally your age, gender, area, skill level, the sports you play, a short bio, and a photo. Everything except your name is optional, and gender is purely descriptive — it is never used to filter or separate anyone.
- Games. The games you create or join, when and where they are, whether you were on a waiting list, and which position you said you would play.
- Messages. What you write in a game's group chat.
- Attendance. Whether players confirmed you turned up. This is what produces the show-up rate on your profile.
- Reports and blocks. If you report or block someone, we record that you did and why.
- Your location, if you turn it on. It is used to work out how far away a game is. This happens entirely on your phone — the reading is never sent to our servers, stored, or shared with anyone. You can decline; Squad still works, distances just won't be accurate until you allow it.
What we do not collect
- Analytics or tracking. There are no third-party trackers in the app.
- Advertising. There are no ads and no advertising identifiers.
- Payment details. Squad never handles money. Costs shown in a game are between you and the host.
- Your contacts, photos library, or microphone. Choosing a profile picture opens the system picker, which hands back only the one image you select.
Who can see what
- Other signed-in players can see your name, profile details, photo, show-up rate, and the games you have joined or are hosting.
- Only people in a game can read that game's chat. This is enforced by the database, not just by the app.
- Profile photos are stored in public storage. That means anyone who has the direct link to the image file can open it, even without an account. Do not use a photo you would mind being seen.
- Nobody outside Squad. We do not sell, rent or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Where it is stored
Squad runs on Supabase, which hosts the database, sign-in and photo storage. The app itself is distributed through Expo. A separate email provider delivers your sign-in codes. These companies process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
How long we keep it
Your profile and games stay until you delete your account. Chat messages stay with the game they belong to. If you delete your account, your profile, photo and messages are removed. Games you hosted may remain visible to the people who joined them, with your name removed, so their record of what they played is not destroyed.
Deleting your account
Open Profile in the app and tap Delete my account. It happens immediately — there is nothing to ask us for. If you cannot get into the app, email support@squadsportsclub.com from the address you signed up with and we will delete everything within 30 days.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or EU you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Emailsupport@squadsportsclub.com and we will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Age
Squad is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from under-16s. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we will remove the account.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the app rather than quietly updating this page. The date at the top always reflects the last change.
